Right as you thought things couldn’t get more complicated in the Josh Jacobs case, it just has.
On Tuesday, the attorneys representing the victim, Ramese Jalalpour and Amir Tahmassebi, filed a motion to seal the evidence from the case. This motion was denied by Brown County Judge Marc Hammer today, despite the fact that the request came from the victim.
The attorneys quoted Marsy’s law when originally asking for the evidence to be sealed. Marsy’s law is a law that gives the victims of crime equal and constitutional rights on the same level as those accused of the crime.
“The motion is consistent with our client’s desire to protect her privacy,” Jalalpour and Tahmassebi said to The Associated Press. “Particularly in light of Mr. Jacobs taking responsibility for his actions in the criminal proceeding.”
With the NFL wanting to look at the evidence to decide what Jacobs suspension will be, this motion could have prevented the NFL from looking at the videos.
Today, the Brown County Judge denied the motion for the evidence to be sealed for an improper format.
It is said that there will be a new proposed order to seal the evidence next Thursday, when a hearing on the issue is scheduled.
